The Pacers have one glaring hole and it seems to be staring at them nightly from the 4 spot on the court. It’s a need that they have had for years now and have yet to address. Multiple drafts have come and gone and we have taken the “best available” only for those draft picks not to work out and for our 4 spot to continue to be empty.

Yes, I’m talking about the power forward position.

And yes it is long past time we found a long-term fit in the power forward position that isn’t naturally a center or a large guard. The Pacers should ABSOLUTELY look to fill this long-term gap this offseason given they have blossoming players at nearly every other position.

At the point guard: Tyrese Haliburton, Andrew Nembhard

At the shooting guard: Buddy Hield, Bennedict Maturing, Chris Duarte

At the small forward: Jordan Nwora, Aaron Nesmith

At the center: Myles Turner, IJAX, Jalen Smith

At the power foward: [crickets]

For years we have tried filling the gap with centers just as Domas Sabonis, Myles Turner, or Jalen Smith. We have also tried filling the minutes with undersized forwards such as Duarte or Nesmith. But it is high time that the Pacers went out on the market and found a power forward to fill this critical position given so many of the best players in the league (LeBron, KD, Tatum, etc) play at this position.
