Buddy Hield shatters important record of Pacers’ legend
By Joe Lyon
The Pacers played the Bulls in Indy on Wednesday night, and to say that the game was a bit ugly would be an understatement, as the Pacers quickly found themselves down by 20 points. However, the Pacers were able to claw their way back into the game largely due to the effort of sharpshooter Buddy Hield who ended the nigh with the following stat-line:
27 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist in 28 minutes on 66% FG and 60% FG3
Yeah you read that right, Buddy Hield was on fire (almost entirely in the second half). And because of this the Pacers were able to pull off the win. But this is no surprise, Buddy Hield has been having himself a season, so much so that he will be featured in the upcoming 3 point contest. But there was one important record that Hield was able to capture on Wednesday night:
Of course, the game is a different game than it was when Reggie played, but it is still impressive that Buddy was able to beat the season record before the all-star break! It just goes to show how important Hield has been to the Pacers and franchise since he was traded here from the Kings.
This shows that Hield is most certainly an all-time great shooter.
While we won’t make any claims that he is better than Reggie (in fact, our biased opinion is that Reggie would make a killing in today’s NBA), we will say that Buddy should be in the conversation with some of the best shooters of all time. This season he is leading the league in made 3 point attempts and he is putting them up at a break-neck pace.
Hield is a large reason towards any success that the Pacers have on the court as well as a mentor to our best player and so we are thrilled for him to break the record and to have him on the team.
