One thing that we at @8pts9secs like to do from time to time is get a pulse for how Pacers nations is feeling about the deadline moves.

Regardless of how we feel, how the players feel, how the ownership feels, or how other teams feel, how the fans feel is ultimately what the team should be caring about. And while it may be difficult to get a feel for the entire fanbase as a whole, our sample size is quite large to get a feel for how fans feel.

The overall results

Overall, Pacers fans seem to think that the team moves were not necessarily noteworthy one way or the other. The results are seen in the embedded tweet below.

The sample size for the poll was nearly 2000 votes, which is a strong poll for twitter. Overall, over half of fans said that they felt neutral about the moves that the team made. However, more fans said that they felt disappointed than happy, meaning there is a net negative vibe among fans. This is something that the front office should take into consideration when making future moves.

Those who felt good about it

Here is one example of a fan that felt good about the deadline moves.

In general those who felt good about the moves seem to focus on the upside of Nwora as well as the Pacers using cap space in order to get some free second round picks (we can debate how valuable those really are). However, the majority of the comments seemed to focus on the negative aspects of the trade deadline.

Those who felt bad about it

The broad majority of comments on the poll seemed to focus on the negative aspects. Some examples are below.

The disappointed fans seemed to fall into two different camps. Some where just left confused as to why the Pacers made the moves they did and how it seemed to pick neither direction of pushing or dropping and that they may find themselves in the middle for the foreseeable future. Some fans were just upset that the Pacers didn’t make a big move altogether.

The verdict?

Mostly, Pacers fans are just confused. And so are we. It is hard to see the vision given the moves they are making and our fear is that the Pacers will commit themselves to mediocrity. As one person on twitter mentioned:
