Pacers vs. Heat prediction and odds for Wednesday, February 8 (Can Indiana cover?)
By Peter Dewey
The Indiana Pacers have really taken a step back since Tyrese Haliburton injured his elbow, and even though he’s back in the lineup they are still sizable dogs on Wednesday night against the Miami Heat.
Miami is tied with the New York Knicks for the No. 6 spot in the East, but the team has dropped back-to-back games.
The issue for Miami this season has been injuries, and the team is dealing with a bunch tonight. Victor Oladipo, Duncan Robinson and Kyle Lowry are all expected to miss this game. It’s a shame Oladipo won’t get a chance to play the franchise that he was once an All-Star with in Indiana.
The Pacers have listed Chris Duarte as questionable for this game.
Can Indiana cover as a road underdog and potentially pull off the upset?
Here are the odds and pick for this game:
Pacers vs. Heat odds, spread and total
Pacers vs. Heat prediction and pick
The Pacers have not been great as road dogs this season (9-14 against the spread), but they are facing one of the worst teams against the spread in the NBA in Miami.
The Heat are just 6-15-2 against the spread as home favorites this season, and they have the second-worst ATS record in the league overall.
Both of these teams are in the bottom-10 in the league in net rating over their last 10 games, but I still believe Indiana has a chance for some positive regression with Haliburton back in the lineup.
Miami is just 3-10 ATS when favored by six or more points this season, so I think the Pacers are able to hang around in this matchup.
