After re-signing Myles Turner to a lucrative, renegotiated contract extension, the Indiana Pacers have made it clear that the franchise is intent on building on its competitive stance this season. All-star guard Tyrese Haliburton’s injury-caused absence may have cascaded into the team losing some ground in the playoff race, but if there’s one thing clear, it’s that a tank job is now safely out of the woods.

Still, the Pacers cannot afford to stand idly and just bank on their admittedly middling roster to carry them into a play-in spot, where they are currently projected to finish. In order for the club to mount a more competitive postseason bid, the front office has to address gaping holes and seek external solutions, if possible.

The Indiana Pacers should double down on improving the roster before the trade deadline

Fortunately for Indiana, they can pursue a slew of attractive names with the 2022 NBA trade deadline just a few weeks away. One of those is current Toronto Raptors forward OG Anunoby, who has reportedly expressed his frustrations with the club and is rumored to want to skip town with his team massively underperforming in the current campaign.

The Pacers have been long believed to be interested in Anunoby, a widely-coveted two-way forward who can instantly shore up any team’s defense. Reports corroborate just that, and given how the Raptor can cover a lot of holes for Indiana, the latter has to do whatever it takes to win the tough bidding war for his services.

Here is one trade proposal that can push the Indiana Pacers over the top in the Anunoby sweepstakes.
