The Pacers trade away one of their best players for a first round pick and salary.

Of the three trades by the site, this is the one the Pacers would have to think longest about before laughing and hanging up the phone. The trade goes something like this:

I’m unsure what the purpose of this trade would be for the Pacers at the moment given that we have extended Myles and seem to have a solid future trajectory. Patrick Beverley would have no place in our future as a franchise, although Lonnie Walker IV could potentially slide into the backup SG role as Mathurin moved into the starting lineup. The first round pick would be nice as well, so this trade has at least some potential.

However, given how Buddy has played all season and what he means to this team and to Tyrese Haliburton, I don’t see the Pacers moving on from Buddy unless there is a good haul in return.

Our grade: C, because it could be worse (see previous two trades).
