A young forward for an aging rotational player.

The Lakers decided to overpay Patrick Bevelery and that taking on his contract was a good idea. We’ve all made a few bad decisions in our lives. However, what they want for the Pacers to get the right to overpay his is borderline ridiculous. Here’s the first proposed trade:

The Pacers trade away Jalen Smith, a serviceable starter in the NBA, a decent rotational player. As well as TJ McConnell, a talented backup that could lead any second unit in the NBA. Are either of them stars? Of course not. We aren’t asking for the moon in return, but at least give the Pacers something they can work with.

However, Lakers fans are a strange group. The believe that Patrick Beverley, a constant journeyman in his career that doesn’t quite excel at any position, as well as two second round picks are enough to make this trade happen. We all know that second round picks are essentially deal sweeteners, so essentially this trade is Pat Bev for both Smith and McConnell.

Our grade: D-, at least we don’t get that much worse, even though we don’t get better.
