These trades only make sense if extension talks are failing.
Myles Turner is literally a perfect compliment to the playstyles of many of the Pacers young core. Because of this, the Pacers should be taking a hard look at extending Myles by using much of the extra cap space this current year, but would allow them to only minimally up his salary in the next few years. By doing so, the Pacers could potentially get the best of both worlds.
Unfortunately, if the Pacers have any indication that Myles is wanting to leave in free agency, they need to act quickly and it appears that the Los Angeles franchises might be two of the bigger suiters to do so.
Since Haliburton has gone down to injury, the Pacers have looked terrible, and a playoff push may not be as likely as it was prior to the injury. We can only hope that the Pacers and Myles have open lines of communication and both sides have an indication of what the other is wanting to do.
