Should the Indiana Pacers trade for Cam Reddish?

If the report holds up and the Knicks are truly amenable to trading Cam Reddish for the price of two second-round picks, the Indiana Pacers should absolutely jump at the idea of being one of, if not the most boisterous bidder for his services.

Reddish’s output from the eye-test may be too far from his upside, and his game ranging from tangential to erratic, but the Knicks wing hardly resembles a player who has nothing left to show the league than to just pump out the hype train even more for the glamour. It’s arguably too early to peg him as a player to overlook, especially considering his promising play when he was in Atlanta.

Basketball-wise, Reddish makes sense for the Pacers. At 6’8, he can supply the team not only with much-needed length, but also with shot creation they actually need to bail them out in possessions when their pace is stymied. Too often have we seen the squad struggle in late-clock situations in tight, half-court situations.

Overall, the Indiana Pacers have had a lot of successful reclamation projects recently. And with Rick Carlisle now leading the way, Cam Reddish could be an interesting piece for the team to try and nurture, as he packs sufficient upside for the team to take a calculated gamble.
