Lu Dort, Oklahoma City Thunder

Dort is another player to become tradable on January 15th. Would the Pacers have any interest him?

The answer is complex. Dort would actually fit in very well with the current roster as constructed. He’s a little on the small side, but could probably defend on the wings a bit better than many of our current wings. The Pacers would likely prefer to go for more of a power forward than small forward, but Dort may be able to pull it off.

He’s young and would fit the team timeline quite well. But therein also lies the problem. His fit next to SGA is great and he also fits OKC’s timeline perfectly as well. For these reasons, as well as he would fit, it is unlikely that the Thunder would be willing to move on from him so quickly given they aren’t strapped for cap space either.

While this one would work, it’s far too unlikely to get excited about or even get one’s hope up over. The Pacers will need to look to another situation for their future forward depth.
