The Indiana Pacers are starting to find their groove once more after some encouraging wins lately. That being said, with the trade deadline less than a couple of months away, rumors still continue to surround the team — most pundits are circling them in as a team to watch in the trade market.

To veer away from the story a bit, new implements in the NBA such as the flattened draft odds up top and the play-in tournament has made more teams actively try to be competitive and chase a playoff spot. Today’s relative parity is certainly not a coincidence, and one can argue that such rules have made the league a lot less predictable.

The Indiana Pacers are still expected to be an active player in the trade market

However, that very parity has also enlarged the pool of potential disappointments. That holds true for several fringe playoff teams who tried to double-down on winning, only realizing after that what they have on deck is not nearly enough for them to be legitimate threats for an NBA title, much less a secure playoff spot.

As a result, several teams stuck in the middle are rumored to be actively in the hunt for assets to redeem themselves. One not-so-reliable outlet, however, went too far with one trade idea of theirs that has an All-Star guard coming to the Pacers.
