This trade is a solid F for the Pacers

It’s natural for a site based out of Dallas to think they could get Turner for cheap. Turner is from the Lone Star State himself and might have a vested interest in playing near his hometown. Plus he could play in a state that has no income tax! Two solid selling points for any player. But what would be the incentive for the Pacers?

But this is just wishful thinking on the part of Mavs fans. Maxi Kleber is a decent role player at best. And Dwight Powell would ride our bench. The second round picks are something we already have too many of, we need to be consolidating some of our assets rather than expanding them.

The Mavs on the other hand would be getting a starter caliber player in return for a handful of neutral value pieces. Of course they would take this in a heartbeat. There is no way that Turner is getting move for less than a not heavily protected first-round pick or a starting-caliber player that fits our timeline.

Anything else is just wishful thinking on the part of another team or fans. The way that Turner is currently playing, he might play himself right into the Pacers’ future anyhow.
