This three-team trade proposal could be a no-brainer for the Pacers
Unprecedented winning has stifled the rumor mill a tad for the Indiana Pacers recently, but over the last couple of weeks, the team has shown more vulnerability as playoff hopefuls after stumbling pretty badly on their latest road trip. Thus, the team’s likelihood of eventually becoming sellers on the trade market could increase down the line.
For one of their most pivotal players, Myles Turner, that could mean a rather abrupt departure from the Circle City. While both sides could eventually re-negotiate an extension, there are legitimate reasons to believe that the longtime Pacer should be treated as a flight risk in the offseason. Naturally, Indiana’s brass will want to pump out whatever they can from the upcoming free agent.
The Indiana Pacers are still likely to look into moving Myles Turner this season
Keeping Turner likely remains as the Pacers’ ideal scenario, especially considering how good he has looked so far this season as both the team’s defensive anchor and versatile scoring big man. The price of keeping him is expected to be steep, but someone with his skillset—and history with the franchise—requires due diligence and warrants a willful negotiation at all costs.
However, nitpicking at hypotheticals is dangerous, especially if the more likely hypothetical to come through is the one that results in an exit. More teams will have cap space in the summer, and more than a handful of them present sensible fits for the 26-year-old.
In that case, this trade proposal from Bleacher Report may come as a no-brainer for Indiana.
