2. The debut of Bennedict Mathurin

With the sixth pick in this last year’s draft, the Pacers selected Bennedict Mathurin. He is an explosive guard that has the potential to be an All-NBA type player and will surely have a big role on this Indiana team this season.

Wowing fans with his huge windmill dunk to cap off a preseason victory last week, Mathurin put up 27 points and did a lot on the defensive end, turning in a standout performance to interject his spectacular showings in training camp.

The Gainbridge Fieldhouse will definitely be buzzing when Mathurin checks into the game for the first time against the Wizards. And while he is expected to come off the bench for this contest, his encouraging play from the preseason, if it translates well into the meaningful games, may prompt the coaching staff to start him earlier than expected.
