3 biggest takeaways from the Indiana Pacers’ win over the New York Knicks

2. Andrew Nembhard turns in his best game yet

Many Indiana Pacers fans did not love the Andrew Nembard pick, which was totally justified at the time with the team already having Tyrese Haliburton, TJ McConnell, and back then, Malcolm Brogdon to handle most of the minutes at the point guard position.

His stature among fans did not improve either after subpar showings in the Summer League. However, the Gonzaga alum finally found his scoring and playmaking touch against the Knicks, co-spearheading the Pacers with Mathurin to the tune of 15 points and nine assists.

Nembhard showed flashes of his highly-touted playmaking skills, and was one of the few players from both teams to sink multiple three-pointers. While he was far from perfect, racking up five turnovers on his own, he gave fans a glimpse of what he could bring to the table.

His rotation spot is far from guaranteed, but if Indiana opts to dangle one of their veterans (ahem, TJ McConnell) to fortify their youth movement, then Nembhard seems like a safe bet for a meaningful promotion.
