How can you not be excited about the newest addition to the Indiana Pacers? Bennedict Mathurin was the team’s sixth overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft, and he did not disappoint in the summer league games he played.

He would average 19.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. He also shot 38% from behind the arc and 48.8% from the field in three games.

Mathurin is a sure starter this season and will get the immediate chance to play alongside the two players I mentioned above. He was in his own tier in summer league and only played in three of the five games. Mathurin has publicly stated that he doesn’t think any player is better than him, which tells you all you need to know about his confidence.

"“If you know me, you know I am a winner. I just want to win and (then) on to the next game”, he said."

We will have to wait for the pre-season to begin before we see him on the court with Haliburton and company. That will likely be in early October according to a report of the San Antonio Spurs preseason dates. Hopefully, Mathurin and the young Indiana Pacers can experience winning in the near future.
