The newest member of the Indiana Pacers? That would be former Arizona standout Bennedict Mathurin. Indiana selected the forward with the No. 6 overall pick in the NBA Draft on Thursday night, adding even more youth and talent to an up-and-coming roster.

Mathurin can jump out of the gym. Add freakish leaping ability and explosiveness to his 6-foot-7 frame, and you’ve got a guard who can help on the defensive glass and alter opposing players’ shots.

Last season at Arizona he averaged 17.7 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, shooting 45 percent from the field and 37 percent from 3-point range.

Some have called Indiana ‘Nap City,’ but don’t sleep on Mathurin.
