Indiana Pacers: Ranking the past 5 city edition uniforms
By Zach Pearson
The 19-20 and 17-18 uniforms are identical, but different colors so picking between them isn’t easy because I am a big fan of both. However, there is one subtle difference that puts one ahead of the other for me.
The 17-18 jersey has a yellow checkered stripe down the side, whereas the 19-20 versions have a blue stripe and to me, that looks better. This puts the 17-18 at my No. 4 spot.
They’re not bad, but I am so glad they made a white version a few years later because this had potential and I think they work a lot better in white. The racing stripe is great, but the yellow on the blue doesn’t allow it to flow as well – it feels a bit blocky.
Nonetheless, this was a solid city uniform and thankfully we got to see it in another way.
It is weird to think that Lance Stephenson was around for these jerseys and is currently on the team wearing the 2021-22 set of uniforms. It seems like Lance has just been a Pacer for his whole career, and seeing him on the floor nowadays almost feels like I am in a time machine.
This was Lance’s second stint with the team before leaving for the Lakers for one season. He was a role player who played in the second unit often and played in all 82 games for the Pacers this season. He also started seven times.
Stephenson averaged 9.2 points per game and shot just over 42% from the field in those 82 games.
Lance also played in each of the seven games that Indiana took LeBron and the Cavs to in the 17-18 season, where he averaged 10.4 points per game and shot 46% from the field in 21 minutes per game. That is a tough series to revisit.
