I’m expecting a lot of points in this one. Since defensive stalwart Myles Turner went down with injury 12 games ago, the Pacers are 29th in the league in defensive rating and the over is 9-3. Before a low-scoring game against Cleveland, the over had hit in seven straight games.
We should see that trend continue with Brogdon out against a Hawks team that ranks 2nd in the NBA in offensive rating on the season but just 27th in defensive. Trae Young should be able to score at will while the Pacers should have success against such a poor defense.
Both teams are playing at a fast pace lately, with the Pacers at the 6th-fastest pace in the last dozen games and the Hawks at the 11th.
When Atlanta plays poor defensive teams like Indiana, the over is a great bet. The Hawks come out firing and force the opponent to shoot to stay in the game. With such a poor defensive backcourt, Atlanta usually allows the opponent to hit those shots.
