After another close defeat, this time at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Indiana Pacers have now lost four consecutive games, keeping them in firm grasp of 13th place in the Eastern Conference with a 14-23 win-loss card.

With a COVID-ravaged roster, however, the Pacers face another tall task on Tuesday night as they kickstart a back-to-back against the Knicks, which have lost two straight after losing Julius Randle to health and safety protocols.

Sidenote: this game marks the return of Lance Stephenson to the Gainbridge Fieldhouse donning the Pacers uniform since the 2017-18 season.

On the season, the Pacers are 3-14 on the road and 8-18 against the East while the Knicks are 7-11 at the Madison Square Garden and 11-16 against conference foes. Indiana ranks 16th in offensive rating and 19th in defensive rating while New York sits at 22nd and 18th, respectively, on the same departments.

Pacers Injury Report

In addition to TJ McConnell (wrist) and TJ Warren (left foot), the Pacers will be missing the services of Jeremy Lamb, Goga Bitadze, Caris LeVert, Kelan Martin, Isaiah Jackson, Chris Duarte, and Malcolm Brogdon against the Knicks as they remain in health and safety protocols.

Indiana Pacers at New York Knicks Prediction

Julius Randle is expected to be back for this game, negating the Pacers’ advantage on the interior. With the bulk of the rotation still shelved due to health and safety protocols, Indiana will have to hope that their role payers step up on the road, a massive challenge for a team which has the worst record away from home in the league.

New York is not fully healthy, but led by Kemba Walker’s reinstatement to the rotation, the Knicks have a more potent perimeter attack against the Pacers’ depleted backcourt and wing positions. Unfortunately, betting on the Knicks to usurp Indiana is the safer way to cover this contest.
