The Indiana Pacers started out relatively well against the defending champions Milwaukee Bucks, but eventually succumbed to their superior roster, losing 118-100 to fall to 9-13 on the season. Sunday’s contest was a bit of a reality check, with the Pacers realizing that they are far from being contenders with their current personnel.

Indiana will not have any time to sit on their laurels, however, with a tough second night of a back-to-back seeing them head to Minnesota to battle the much-improved Timberwolves which, while middling with a 10-10 record, has a high-upside and talented roster. This would’ve been a scheduled win in previous years, but Minny is far from the cellar dweller that it was in recent campaign.

On the season, the Pacers are 3-9 on the road and 4-3 against the West while the Timberwolves are 6-6 at the Target Center and 3-2 against the East. Indiana ranks 15th in offensive rating and 13th in defensive rating while Minnesota sits at 14th and 11th, respectively, on the same departments.

Indiana Pacers vs Minnesota Timberwolves Prediction

Minnesota has been a more balanced squad this season, surprisingly ranking better as a defensive unit than an offensive team. Still, make no mistake. Between Karl Anthony-Towns, Anthony Edwards, and D’Angelo Russell, the Timberwolves have three legitimate scorers who can pop off at any give night and the tilt the game to their favor.

The Pacers, despite getting lambasted at home by the Bucks, may not be as fatigued as anticipated, with the coaching staff pulling the starters early in anticipation for this matchup. Indiana has some ideal defenders to throw at the T-Wolves’ leading men, and in derision of a losing streak, expect the pacers to come out swinging hard en route to a gutsy win on the road.
