The Indiana Pacers could use Kendrick Nunn’s microwave scoring to galvanize the backcourt
The Indiana Pacers’ point guards, Malcolm Brogdon and TJ McConnell, are relatively old-school floor generals who prefer a methodical approach to score and facilitate the offense. Personally, that’s my preferred style of play from a point guard, but in today’s NBA, microwave scorers from the position are becoming more prevalent.
Indy doesn’t have that on their roster, but they can poach one in free agency with Kendrick Nunn. Formerly of the Heat and currently with the Lakers (albeit sidelined with an injury), the 26-year-old is a score-first combo guard who can start games or come off the bench and still thrive as an aggressive rim attacker. With a 36.4 percent career three-point stroke to boot, he’ll be perfect for a featured scoring role, even in non-exhaustive minutes.
Luckily, with the Lakers’ star-studded lineup putting a damper on his court time and touches this season, his market value may be lower than expected. Hence, the Pacers could capitalize and pursue Nunn in order to bring some much-needed verve to galvanize their backcourt’s scoring profile.
