3 players to watch for the Indiana Pacers in the preseason
By Luke Parrish
Is it finally Myles Turner’s time to shine for the Indiana Pacers?
We have been hoping for a Myles Turner breakout for several years now and it just seems unlikely to ever happen. However, this summer has been a busy one for the seventh-year center. Turner has focused on his body and cut down his weight to be a bit more explosive.
Defensively, there is no denying that Turner is one of the best in the business. He is an elite rim protector and shot blocker but fans typically point to his low rebounding numbers to criticize his impact on that end of the floor. This season is shaping up to be a big one for him once again as the team’s best (only?) defensive stopper.
I am not expecting some massive leap as an offensive weapon from Turner but he does look to be in better shape than last year when he was getting more aggressive as a driver. Adding just a little bit more on offense from Turner could turn things around for the Pacers.
I don’t know exactly how much the starters will play in the preseason – and with their injury luck I would prefer that number to be very small – but it would be refreshing to see a new plan for Myles Turner.
