Indiana Pacers: 5 storylines to watch for in training camp
What’s next for Jeremy Lamb and the Indiana Pacers?
It’s no secret among Indiana Pacers circles that the front office has been actively shopping veteran wing Jeremy Lamb, who’s on an expiring contract. While he is far from detrimental for the club and remains to be a solid role player, his tenure donning the Blue and Gold has been marred by injuries. It also doesn’t help his case that the team has younger prospects who project to overtake him in the rotation.
However, in light of LeVert and Warren’s injuries, Lamb could still play a meaningful role next season as a sparkplug off the bench. He doesn’t offer much on defense, but his efficient scoring prowess and secondary playmaking could be valuable enough for the front office to hold off and think twice before dealing him.
As a depth piece who can be tabbed to come in and grab a few buckets, Lamb should flourish. However, he’s too good for a third stringer role. If the team finally makes it to full strength (note: if), he may be the odd man out, but until that happens, keeping him makes more sense both on and off the court as a reliable shot creator and a locker room presence.
