NBA Mock Draft 5.0: Final first-round predictions before the draft
NBA Mock Draft 7th Pick: Golden State Warriors – Davion Mitchell
After a two-year postseason absence, the Golden State Warriors should be right back in the mix next season. With Klay Thompson returning and MVP contender Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and the much-improved Andrew Wiggins still at the helm, the Dubs should be touted as a dangerous wildcard in the West. Oh wait, they have two lottery picks, too.
While the Warriors could easily dangle their draft picks to net some immediate help for their title window, the seventh pick holds value on its own, even if the team eventually holds onto it. Davion Mitchell is the ideal get here, bolstering Golden State’s backcourt that falls flat outside of the Splash Bros.
Mitchell, aka Off Night, may very well be the best defender on the draft. In addition to his spectacular prowess as a stopper, he’s become a much-improved shooter and facilitator while also boasting a lightning quick first step which allows him to blow by defenders and force 5-on-4s, which bodes well for the Dubs’ complex ball movement offense.
