NBA Mock Draft 5.0: Final first-round predictions before the draft
NBA Mock Draft 6th Pick: Oklahoma City Thunder – Jonathan Kuminga
I don’t know what to feel about the Oklahoma City Thunder’s axiomatic, in-your-face rebuild. Still, Sam Presti is doing an incredible job dangling thriving veterans for draft compensation, owning a boatload of first-round picks in the foreseeable future. It may be an embarrassment of riches, but given the franchise’s draft history, things are looking bright for the franchise.
Even better, the Thunder can secure both fit and talent with the sixth overall pick. Jonathan Kuminga, who can play both forward positions, would be instant remedy for OKC’s dearth of talent on the wings last season, as evidenced by their makeshift lineups featuring the undersized Luguentz Dort or the oversized Aleksej Pokusevski at the 3.
Kuminga, who projects to sap the bulk of small forward minutes, would immediately augment Oklahoma City’s poignant defense, which ranked a measly 24th last season. His improving offensive arsenal, which is much better than what the Thunder have right now at the wings, should add an unpredictable dimension to their league-worst offense.
