Trading Myles Turner to the New York Knicks will only weaken the Indiana Pacers, especially with their mediocre returns

Myles Turner’s otherworldly shot blocking prowess will be an absolutely perfect fit with the New York Knicks’ rejuvenation on defense, especially when coupled with All-Star forward Julius Randle. Under Tom Thibodeau, he could flourish further and improve as a rebounder and a positional defender.

However, dealing him to the Knicks has two caveats for the Indiana Pacers: first, it will further fortify a New York team which is above the Blue and Gold in the standings last season and second, the Knicks really only have serviceable role players to deal. It also wouldn’t make much sense for the Pacers to covet their two low first round picks when they have a lottery selection.

Reggie Bullock, in a sign-and-trade, is good enough to warrant ample court time, but having him as the centerpiece in a return for Turner is a severe undervaluation. Hence, Indy will be better off finding other suitors for their prized big man.
