Indiana Pacers: 5 worthy NBA Draft gambles in the second round
Austin Reaves brings reliable backcourt scoring to the Indiana Pacers
Roster depth at the guard position will be another focus for the Indiana Pacers this summer, especially with TJ McConnell‘s impending free agency and guards Aaron Holiday and Jeremy Lamb projected to be on the trade market. Given the starting backcourt’s fragile health, it only makes sense to double down on the guard slots.
Oklahoma’s Austin Reaves could be a quality get in the second-round. The 6’5 combo guard has an uncanny knack on moving without the ball with his quick first step, a reliable passer and is a prolific shooter from the charity stripe and the mid-range zone, although his three-point shooting is very iffy and needs a lot of work.
However, his struggles from downtown should be mitigated as he already has good fundamental to begin with. If he makes it work, he could function as a Pat Connaughton-type of player for the Indiana Pacers bench.
