No. 1: Moses Moody makes it to the Indiana Pacers

If you haven’t caught on by now, Moses Moody is my favorite option for the Indiana Pacers in this draft and it seems very likely that he will be available when they are on the clock. His two-way potential is something the Pacers have lacked since Paul George left and it comes on the wing, the biggest area of need for Indiana currently.

Moody has been projected all over the lottery but typically finds himself between picks 11 and 16 from what I can tell. If he is there at 13th overall, the Pacers have to take him. If the wings start flying early and they risk losing out on him, Indiana should consider a trade up into the top-10 to secure him.

Moody is an effective scorer and lockdown defender. If you can land a player of that caliber this late in the lottery, for whatever reason he falls, you have to take that chance and hope he becomes the player he is projected to be.

I am very interested in the idea of playing Moody behind T.J. Warren for a season before moving him into the starting lineup and letting both of them share the floor. Worst case scenario, the Pacers cannot afford to retain T.J. Warren after this season and Moody takes over for him.

For now, Moody is my choice to be the Pacers’ selection in the upcoming NBA Draft and by a wide margin. He fits exactly what Indiana needs heading into next season and could be the key piece to the future beyond just 2022.
