No. 3: Josh Giddey finds his way to the Indiana Pacers

Australian sensation Josh Giddey has been mocked to the Indiana Pacers quite a bit this offseason. His potential as a playmaking point guard will have teams hooked but his landing spot is up in the air. Most mocks currently have him in the back half of the lottery but he has been all over the map throughout the summer.

The Pacers have a need behind Malcolm Brogdon at point guard with T.J. McConnell‘s impending free agency. If McConnell leaves, the Pacers will need to have a reliable option to run the second unit.

Josh Giddey has all of the playmaking upside you could want in a late-lottery prospect. His vision and passing ability are top-notch for a player as young as Giddey is and taking a chance on him to run your second unit is worth the risk with the 13th overall pick.

While McConnell was a solid bench guard in his two years with the Pacers, he lacked any sort of scoring threat. Giddey may not be an elite shooter but his ability to dish to open teammates, rebound, and finish at the rim make him an exciting prospect.

I am all for the Pacers adding a player like Giddey to the bench and unlocking Goga Bitadze. Goga showed flashes last season as a solid backup center but injuries have continued to alter the rotation for the Pacers. Pairing him with a young point guard who can set Goga up for easy buckets could improve his confidence.
