The Indiana Pacers will quickly have a chance to add some much-needed roster improvements in the upcoming 2021 NBA Draft, owning the 13th overall pick after a lottery finish last season. Entering the following campaign, the Blue and Gold will once again fly under the radar, especially with the upstart teams in the East catching everyone’s attention this year.

Fortunately, Indiana will have a lot of options going forward in the offseason aside from picking in the deep pool of available rookies. Be it in hunting for fitting role players to bolster the team via free agency or venturing into the smoke-filled trade market to land a new cornerstone this summer, the Pacers brass will have all sorts of flexibility, at least in roster building.

The Indiana Pacers can find some gems from their Central Division foes

Intra-division trades are usually not encouraged as an unwritten rule in the NBA, especially with division standings still carrying some heft standings-wise. However, the Pacers should be more than willing to net some assets even if it means giving their rival teams what they need in return. For a precedent, Indiana recently traded with Milwaukee for Malcolm Brogdon, signifying that the front office will be open to trading with a division foe.

The Central Division is quite top-heavy with Milwaukee as the clear-cut best team and Indiana as the second-best, though the gap is currently wide. To catch up, the Pacers must consider these trades with every team from their division.
