Owners of the 13th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, the Indiana Pacers have a chance to bolster their roster after a disappointing campaign which culminated in a lottery finish for the first time in six seasons. Although the franchise has made it clear that the team is in win-now mode, adding a talent through the deep draft will give them with much-needed ammo for both the present and the future.

One prospect projected to still be available as the Blue and Gold make their pick is Josh Giddey, a 6’8 guard out of Australia who is viewed by most to be among the best playmakers in the upcoming draft. Armed with a unique court vision for a player of his stature, it’s no surprise that many Pacers fans have him high on their radars.

The Indiana Pacers may be interested in Josh Giddey’s upside and unique skillset

As the lead floor general for the Adelaide 36ers of the National Basketball League (NBL) in Australia, Giddey showcased poise and maturity from the point guard position against more experienced and polished competition, averaging 10.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 7.6 assists per game in the previous season.

Clearly, his all-around skillset makes the intrigue around him more than justified. Thus, will the Indiana Pacers, who are pegged to show interest on the 18-year-old, be best served picking Josh Giddey with the 13th pick? Here the pros and cons of drafting the lanky and talented playmaker.
