Worst-case scenario #3: The Indiana Pacers trade a big…but draft another one

The Turner-Sabonis breakup may come or may not come this offseason, but if it does, a draft night trade to facilitate it is not out of the woods. However, doing so must be taken in utmost consideration, especially because of the implication of what dropping the hammer on the big man tandem entails.

If it pushes through, it will be because of a shift in dynamics, specifically embracing the small-ball revolution. The zagging of the Pacers as the league zigs hasn’t really paid enough dividends to render either of them untouchable, but they are equally valuable in their own right.

All signs are inclined to trading Myles in a careful choice, but if Indiana indeed pulls the trigger, drafting another big in a compensatory faith will be disastrous, despite the presence of intriguing big man prospects projected to be available to them in Alperen Sengun, Kai Jones, Isaiah Jackson and Usman Garuba.
