NBA Mock Draft 3.0: Post-lottery predictions and shockers in the first-round
NBA Mock Draft 17th Pick: Memphis Grizzlies
Memphis was a pleasant surprise this season. Led by Ja Morant, the Grizzlies turned heads by qualifying for the playoffs after beating the Spurs and the Warriors in the play-in tournament before dying a noble death to the Utah Jazz. Nevertheless, this season was a big leap for the young Grizz.
However, if there’s an issue that needs to be addressed for Memphis, it’s three-point shooting. The Grizzlies are still a bottom-10 team in three-pointers made, attempted and in conversion rate. To complement Morant’s attacking game, perimeter offense must be given emphasis in the offseason.
Corey Kispert’s quick trigger and deep three-point shooting should be a welcome addition to the team. He doesn’t do much besides scoring, but his length makes him an switchable team defender at least, a facet missing in the team’s designated shooters outside of Dillon Brooks.
