NBA Mock Draft16th Pick: Boston Celtics

It seems like we’re ringing a rhyme here, but the Boston Celtics have also disappointed in the previous season. Despite the roster headed by three All-Stars, the C’s only managed to secure the seventh seed before losing quickly to the similarly star-laden Brooklyn Nets.

If anything, what Boston needs is depth. They’re currently too top-heavy to field a supporting cast that can hold its own against opposing benches. Thus, a breath of fresh air may be what this team needs on the gutters, especially with the front office undergoing a massive overhaul and turnover in the offseason.

Alas, if Connecticut’s James Bouknight is still available, the Celtics shouldn’t get too cute and strike the iron while still hot. Few prospects have more upside than Bouknight as a scorer. As an explosive three-level guard, he can be the perfect solution to Boston’s dearth of playmakers aside from their stars while proving to be a logical deterrent to overpaying Evan Fournier in a wishful return.
