Aaron Holiday could benefit from another year with Nate Bjorkgren as head coach of the Indiana Pacers
A lot of Pacers had career years last season offensively under Nate Bjorkgren and the franchise had its best scoring season since joining the NBA. Bjorkgren clearly implemented some good things on that end of the floor but Holiday took a bit longer to adjust. A second season in the system could do him wonders.
After a horrible start to his 2020-21 season, Holiday turned things around once he got back into the rotation. It took a brief benching to ignite a fire but Holiday returned to the lineup and was much better down the final stretch.
Holiday averaged 8.0 points per game in the final 24 games of the season while shooting above 44 percent from the three-point line and 89.5 percent from the foul line. His usage was a bit down from previous seasons but there was plenty to like from Holiday as the season came to a close.
63 of his 68 three-point makes last season came off of assists, good for a 92.6 percent mark. His previous high for assisted threes was just 83.5 percent in 2019-20. Indiana is shooting more threes than ever before under Bjorkgren and Aaron Holiday has shown that he can be a threat from the outside.
If he is given a chance to be the backup point guard, Holiday could be a real weapon moving forward.
