Indiana Pacers free agent target: Ben McLemore, Los Angeles Lakers

Ben McLemore is the literal manifestation of that microwave player whom everyone loves using on 2K to jack up some quick threes and bleed points on the board. After being known more for his rim-rattling dunks early in his career, he’s now changed his game into being a flamethrower who can shoot the lights out from three-point land.

A late-season signing by the Los Angeles Lakers, McLemore is a reliable bench weapon whom the team can easily deploy amid scoring droughts. For the Purple and Gold, he made two triples per game on an above-average 36.5 percent mark from downtown despite only playing 17.5 minutes per contest. He doesn’t do much else beyond shooting the rock, and his defense is not his strong suit, but he knows where to get to his spots without the ball and he rarely commits mistakes.

In theory, the Indiana Pacers can sign him as a quick relief if McDermott is pried away by another team, or if Jeremy Lamb is dangled away in a trade. He could easily be the Blue and Gold’s designated gunner in the second unit, pairing well with TJ McConnell and the other wings, as well as the motion offense orchestrated by Domantas Sabonis with the bench mob.
