Most fans know the Memphis Grizzlies best from their celebrated Grit N’ Grind era in the early to mid 2010s. While that team is now long gone, a new crop of similarly rugged and pesky players is bringing new life to the franchise.

Led by Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., Dillon Brooks and a cast of tough players, the Grizzlies, while boasting a style dissimilar to their predecessors, still retain the same Grit N’ Grind spirit that made those Memphis teams so formidable. They channeled that identity to brave through the wild West and sneak to the playoffs after defeating the Spurs and heavy favorite Warriors in the play-in.

Despite being an 8th seed, they now have the chance to prove that they are more than just a feel-good story and reclaim the similar respect that those notable squads garnered from the league. Pacers fans, including me, see some traces of the 2017-18 Indiana team in this group with their teamwork on offense and hardwork on defense. Among all the teams in this list, they have the smallest chance to make postseason noise, but Indiana loves the underdog, right?
