Indiana Pacers free agent target: Mike Scott, Philadelphia 76ers

The 76ers have a dearth of realistically available free agents with Danny Green and Dwight Howard extremely unlikely to leave Philly. However, Mike Scott can be player whom the Indiana Pacers can poach, especially with his role shrinking this season.

Scott is playing the least minutes since he became a Sixer and is having a relatively down season. But the Pacers can get value from him with his quietly effective and physical defense, three-point marksmanship and veteran voice. While he is only canning 34.2 percent of his triples, he can keep defenders honest and prevent them from doubling the post and tagging attackers. He’ll be a great fit next to both Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis.

Indy fans may be reminded of his scoring explosion in the 2014 playoffs with Atlanta, and to be fair, he’s not far from that player. He’s quite streaky with his shot, but his intangibles and defense are consistent parts of his game. Better yet, he arms the locker room with a veteran voice which is increasingly becoming a need given the team’s recent struggles on that front in the recently concluded season.
