Indiana Pacers: Realistic and affordable free agent targets from every East playoff team
Indiana Pacers free agent target: Bruce Brown, Brooklyn Nets
Bruce Brown is a player who can serve as an insurance for both McConnell and Lamb if they manage to find themselves out of Indy. A rugged defender who plays bigger than his 6’4 height suggests, he’s been a wonderful spot starter for the Nets this season.
While not much of a three-pointer shooter, Brown is not afraid to jockey for rebound position despite being a backcourt player and aggressively drive to the rim . He spends most of his time guarding the opponent’s best perimeter threat and functioning as a secondary playmaker. While he has only averaged 1.6 assists this season, he has proven that he can handle point guard duties if needed when he tallied four assists per contest in his last season with Detroit.
Brown can easily slide in McConnell’s role if the heady guard leaves. A three-headed guard lineup of Brogdon-LeVert-Brown could be a nightmare on the defensive end for teams who regularly trot out small-ball lineups. And who wouldn’t love a guy who regularly dives for loose balls?
