Indiana Pacers: Realistic and affordable free agent targets from every East playoff team
Indiana Pacers free agent target: Nemanja Bjelica, Miami Heat
Nemanja Bjelica, one of Miami’s acquisitions in the trade deadline, seemed like a great fit for their team-oriented attack. However, his defensive miscues made him almost unplayable, as he now finds himself tethered to the bench. The Serbian’s future in the NBA seems hazy, but the Indiana Pacers can take him on as a low-risk, high-reward player with his skillset.
At his best, the 33-year-old works wonders on the court as a rangy playmaking big man who can make the offense more fluid. While his defensive shortcomings and rebounding struggles are well-documented, he can certainly function as a backup 4 or a small-ball 5 in spurts. His passing is sleek for his size and he has a knack for treading interior passes to cutters and finding shooters in the open floor.
Most importantly, he can be a great addition as a veteran voice for Goga Bitadze. The sophomore has shown flashes of potential, but he still suffers from indecisiveness and inconsistencies on the court. Perhaps the Pacers can take a flyer on him as a situational and reliable vet.
