3 secret weapons for the Indiana Pacers to vault them back to the playoffs
Lo and behold, Oshae Brissett: The Indiana Pacers’ ultimate secret weapon
For Indiana Pacers fans, Oshae Brissett is not-so-secret anymore. After immediately proving to be an incredible bargain signing and a jewel in the desert for the Navy and Gold, a lot of people in the Pacers’ circle are already gushing about the sophomore. But like the ones before him, he’s no center of Indiana’s gravity.
To most people out there, Brissett is probably the best 3-and-D player you’ve never heard before. He shoots the three at an impressive 42.3 percent rate, is aggressive in playing the passing lanes and swatting shots as a help defender, and is a physical man-to-man stopper. Clearly, he has already attained the trust of the coaching staff as he’s been locked into the starting lineup for quite a while now.
Coach Nate Bjorkgren has not held back in deploying Brissett for incredibly long stretches, playing 30.9 minutes in games where he starts. For that reason, opposing teams may be thrown off facing a virtual unknown in Brissett, who will have every opportunity to showcase his hidden skills against quality competition. He will also almost certainly guard the opponent’s best perimeter scorer and switch through multiple positions as a disruptive two-way menace.
