Jeremy Lamb is one of many Indiana Pacers to be rumored in trade talks before the NBA trade deadline on Thursday. His future is up in the air but it makes for a good problem for the Pacers as things stand.

Indiana is playing far too many guards to have any relative success in the playoffs and doesn’t have the minutes to go around for everyone. Edmond Sumner is emerging as a reliable option off the bench thanks to his athleticism and effort on the defensive. That leaves Jeremy Lamb in a bit of a weird spot.

Jeremy Lamb is a good problem for the Indiana Pacers

We have seen promising glimpses from Lamb since he returned from injury even though they have been sporadic. He’s had his nights where he’s the only bench scorer and has carried that burden on his own, going off for a big night and seemingly hitting everything.

During Monday night’s blowout loss to Milwaukee, Lamb was back to form after really struggling in the weeks prior. He went off for 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting and hitting three of his seven attempts from downtown.

Monday was Lamb’s third time this season scoring more than 20 points and each such performance has come off the bench. In 25 appearances this season, Lamb has scored in double figures 15 times.

On the season, Lamb is averaging 11.1 points and shooting a career-best 43 percent from three-point range and 95 percent from the free throw line. He is still very capable of being a prominent scorer in the NBA whether he is with the Pacers or not.

With the Pacers potentially looking to shed his salary while also adding wing help – in place of the logjam in the backcourt – Jeremy Lamb could return some value. Rather than an underwhelming Aaron Holiday or the young and promising Sumner, Lamb could very well be on the move at the deadline.

He is a proven veteran with plenty to offer on the offensive end of the floor. If a team views him as a major impact player at the deadline, the Pacers have to move him.
