Indiana Pacers: Myles Turner’s name is popular in trade rumors again
By Luke Parrish
The Los Angeles Lakers are just one of the several teams to reportedly have interest in Indiana Pacers big man Myles Turner. Turner, who never seems to avoid trade rumors, is back on the rumor mill as the trade deadline looms.
Myles Turner is having a bounceback season for the Pacers and is one of the best rim protectors in the NBA. His presence on the defensive end cannot be overstated but his struggles with consistency on the offensive end have him torn amongst Pacers fans.
Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner is a potential target for the Lakers.
Lakers head coach Frank Vogel does have some history with Turner, spending one year with him in Indiana. The Lakers are in the hunt for another championship and could use another paint presence with Anthony Davis battling injury.
Of course, the Pacers are not just going to give Myles away for nothing. He is a valuable piece defensively with two more years on his contract. Not to mention, the Lakers are not the only team with some reported interest in the rim protector. Other teams in the hunt include the Knicks and Clippers but the Knicks may be the only group of that bunch with anything of value to offer in return.
Contending teams are ready to make a move for Turner which should say a lot about how he is viewed around the league and just how talented he truly is. I would not be surprised to see the Pacers split up the Turbonis pairing at some point in the near future but the price has to be fair.
There is still plenty of time for a deal to come to fruition so do not expect discussions around Turner to stop any time soon. The only problem with the Lakers is the lack of assets that would entice the Pacers enough to ship Myles to Los Angeles.
