The Indiana Pacers will play their first game in a week today as Golden State is in town. How will the Pacers look after getting some much-needed rest?

It has felt like a near eternity since we last saw the Indiana Pacers in action. Today marks seven days since we last saw the Blue and Gold. The overtime win against Minnesota almost seems like a distant memory, but do not fear, Pacers fans. We finally have basketball back at Bankers Life Fieldhouse as the Pacers are scheduled to take on the Golden State Warriors.

Over the past seven days, the Pacers were scheduled to play two games. The game against the Houston Rockets was postponed due to the severe weather Texas has experienced. The other game that was postponed was against the San Antonio Spurs set to be played at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. This game was moved because of four Spurs players testing positive for COVID-19.

The Indiana Pacers are back after a brief rest.

A week off could very well be a blessing in disguise for the Pacers. Malcolm Brogdon and Domantas Sabonis get some much-needed time off. Brogdon and Sabonis are both top-15 in the league for minutes played so far this season. Any time off for those two that doesn’t result in missed games is happily taken.

To expand on the last paragraph a little bit, the time off really gives all the players a little chance to heal up whatever ailments they may have. This could also give more time to accommodate Caris LeVert into practice and feel with the system. The more time the Pacers can work with LeVert the better as he nears his return to the court and debut with the Pacers.

This little break could also give the Pacers the opportunity to work on areas they have needed to address such as rebounding and defense. A full uninterrupted week would give the team ample amount of time to look at the film and practice on these areas.

The Pacers will have a tough test tonight as a very solid Golden State team is heading into town. I fully expect the Pacers to come out looking fresh and explosive. I expect Sabonis to have a career night whether or not James Wiseman plays. If he doesn’t, oh my it could get worse. I’m just honestly ready to see some Pacers basketball again.
