The Indiana Pacers will no longer play in Phoenix on Saturday night.

Due to contact tracing as a result of COVID-19, the Indiana Pacers will no longer play the Phoenix Suns on their current road trip. The Suns will not have the required players available for a pair of games this weekend, forcing them to postpone them until a later date.

As of right now, there is no word on when this game will be made up. The tricky part of this particular situation is the cross-country road trip that is required for these two teams to meet up. Phoenix has already traveled to Indiana this season and the Pacers were hoping to even things up on their current visit out west.

The NBA has already postponed 10 games so far this season with many more expected to come in the following days. Teams are having to reschedule games and find times to meet the 72-game schedule that was originally planned but this could all change in the coming months.

For Indiana, this news is a bit of a refresher after what would have been an exhausting trip. Instead of playing five games in seven days, including two back-to-backs out west, Indiana will get an extra day off on Saturday. It could also give them an opportunity to get some guys healthy who have been out of the lineup, including veteran guard Jeremy Lamb.

The news of the Victor Oladipo trade that brought Caris LeVert to the Pacers is also aided by this postponement, as it may allow LeVert to join the team after just one game without him. Tonight’s game in Portland will be the first game without Victor Oladipo, and it comes with a tough challenge attached to it. Can the Pacers slow down the potent backcourt duo of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum?

There is still no word on when LeVert will be available for Indiana, especially considering COVID-19 protocols in place. If he is able to join the squad on Sunday, Indiana will only miss his presence for one game, which could be huge moving forward.
