Indiana Pacers: 3 things to be thankful for this season
By Luke Parrish
Nate Bjorkgren
Sure, it might be a little premature to already be thankful for Nate Bjorkgren as the new head coach. After watching the Pacers hover around mediocrity under Nate McMillan, it is refreshing to see a new face leading the team heading into next season. McMillan was a great coach in the regular season, consistently setting Indiana up with a chance for playoff success. However, that playoff success just never showed up.
The Pacers now get to learn under Bjorkgren, a first-time head coach who has been around an elite coaching staff in Toronto. He has already won an NBA Championship and knows what it takes to reach the milestone, which the Pacers need in a big way.
Having a chance to start over at head coach but having the same players running the show will give the Pacers a chance to see just how talented the roster truly is. If this group cannot win under the new coach, then perhaps the roster does need to be reshaped heading into the 2021-22 season.
But for now, we have Nate Bjorkgren ready to take charge and get Indiana back to the playoffs with a chance to get past the first round.
