What should the Indiana Pacers be thankful for in 2020?

Thanksgiving is here before the NBA season tips off but that does not mean the Indiana Pacers do not have plenty to be thankful for. After a tumultuous offseason full of rumors and drama, the Pacers appear to have their plan in place for the upcoming campaign. Here are some things that Indiana has in its favor.

Continuity

Despite constant rumors of trade interest, the Pacers are retaining most of their roster from the 2019-20 season. Aside from trading T.J. Leaf, Indiana has done its part in bringing back the core of the rotation, including Justin Holiday and JaKarr Sampson who were re-signed early in free agency.

Injuries plagued the 2019-20 season and Indiana was never given an opportunity to see the full rotation play together. With Malcolm Brogdon, Victor Oladipo, and Domantas Sabonis coming back healthy, the Pacers can hopefully see them reach their full potential together.

Myles Turner appears to be returning as the defensive anchor of the team while T.J. Warren is in line to be the team’s leading scorer once again this season. With each of the top contributors returning, Indiana will have some continuity on the roster but a new head coach will be calling the shots.

The bench will be adding pieces to an already exciting unit as Cassius Stanley joins Aaron Holiday, T.J. McConnell, and Edmond Sumner in the backcourt. In all, the Pacers should have plenty of chemistry returning this season, giving them a reason to expect success.
