Indiana Pacers guard Jeremy Lamb will likely be sidelined to start the season.
Jeremy Lamb suffered a season-ending injury in his first year with the Indiana Pacers. As the team heads into the 2020-21 campaign, they will likely be without Lamb as he continues to recover from his knee injury.
According to Kevin Pritchard, Lamb is expected to start practicing in December with a timetable for game action in January. If he can come back at full strength, Lamb will add an extra scoring threat for the Indiana bench.
Lamb got off to a slow start with the Pacers after signing as a free agent last summer. He is a quality offensive player that provides depth on the wing and in the backcourt but struggled at times to knock down shots consistently. His injury capped off a disappointing season for Lamb but he kept spirits high and can still be a useful piece in the rotation.
With players like Edmond Sumner, Aaron Holiday, and Justin Holiday still in the building, the Pacers will be able to hold down Lamb’s spot until he returns. If he can fit back into his role once he does return, the Pacers could be in for a treat.
As a starter with Indiana last season, Lamb averaged a solid 12.5 points per game but shot just 33.5 percent from deep. In his only other season as a starter, which came in 2018-19 with the Hornets, Lamb averaged a career-best 15.3 points while shooting 34.8 percent from beyond the arc.
Jeremy Lamb can be a very good scoring piece and rotational weapon in the right situation. He was forced into a bit more of a role than expected last year as the Pacers had to replace minutes for Victor Oladipo and Malcolm Brogdon when they battled injuries of their own.
