The Indiana Pacers have signed JaKarr Sampson.

According to The Athletic, the Indiana Pacers have re-signed JaKarr Sampson on a one-year deal. The deal is reportedly worth the league minimum and fully guaranteed for the 2020-21 season.

Sampson was one of Indiana’s few unrestricted free agents but he played a huge role for the team last season as they battled injuries. With Domantas Sabonis coming off an injury and Goga Bitadze still figuring out his role in the squad, Sampson provides veteran depth and experience off the bench.

This is a huge signing for Indiana, adding a depth piece that can fill in and give quality minutes in the second unit or make some spot starts if needed. Sampson was a high-energy guy for the Pacers last season and they get to bring him back on a team-friendly deal for one more season.

While this is another move that will not turn heads or place the Pacers as clear contenders, it is a move that helps the team right now. The team needs energy and effort on the second unit, and Sampson is exactly that.

JaKarr Sampson will have some sort of role with the Pacers next season and fans should be excited to watch him once again. His energy and passion are contagious and for a team that needs a little boost to get over the hump, Sampson is a nice fit.
